Did you know that entrepreneurs operate more than ninety-three current Clyde businesses?
Businesses that make Clyde more livable including downtown retail businesses, service businesses, and agricultural-related businesses all benefit from people with innovative spirits.  Because entrepreneurs are so important to the Clyde economy, it is important to support and promote Clyde entrepreneurs.  The program is themed “Clyde Idea People” and the name was chosen because Clyde Entrepreneurs have long taken great ideas and haven’t been afraid to carry out those ideas.

How did the Entrepreneurship program develop?
Dedicated volunteer members have helped develop the program, serve as advisors, and assist in program communication support the Clyde Entrepreneurship program.  The “Clyde Idea People” Entrepreneurship program is based upon the award-winning Hometown Competitiveness framework developed in Nebraska as a community-based strategy to help rural communities to become thriving and sustainable.  To reverse troubling trend lines and erosion, HTC provides a comprehensive framework through which communities can mobilize local talent and build civic leadership, energize local entrepreneurship to build a stronger economy, capture wealth transfer and developmental resources, and implement innovative strategies to attract and retain future generations.

Why the HTC program for Clyde?
In 2002, leaders in Ord, Nebraska, located more than 50 miles northwest of Interstate 80, were struggling to make real progress. They were offered an opportunity to become the pilot site for a new approach to rural development:  HomeTown Competitiveness, or HTC. They have since reversed their population declines, improved sales tax revenue, expanded private investment and attracted young folks back home.  The “Clyde Idea People” program seeks similar results for Clyde businesses.
