Business NewsOur corresponding historian Myron Cailteux correctly answered last month’s question, “Who owned the hatcheries in Clyde?” He said, “Jule Derousseau, Dean Smith & Burton Smith had hatcheries in Clyde at one time.” Regarding February’s trivia question about Skunk Town’s, Lloyd Erickson informed us that there were a lot of skunks in that area, and the Streeter brothers were known for trapping them. New trivia question: Clifton-Clyde girls won the state track meet three years in a row. During that same time, they won state volleyball and were runners up in state basketball. When did the girl athletes perform so well? For more of a challenge, what school did they play in their state volleyball and basketball championship games?? His wife is employed at the VA Hospital in Topeka. His youngest of 3 sons is a junior at Topeka High. Mr. Cassidy has 12 years experience with nursing homes, including 3 years as an administrator. Randy Wise has joined Peoples Exchange Bank as Vice President of Lending and Financial Services. He has been in banking and insurance. Randy, his wife Amanda, and their daughter Natalie live in Belleville. Ron Racette was honored March 29th at a retirement party for his 10 years of volunteer service at the Clyde Area Recycling Center. His daughter Polly and husband Stephen Pearce of Wells were surprise visitors at the reception. Restaurant for lease: Clyde is looking for someone to run our restaurant as a hometown café and possibly a restaurant to serve regional customers.
