For business start-ups, the North Central Kansas Small Business Development Center offers 3 introductory classes for a nominal fee:
  • Meeting the 3 Ms – Learning the Basics of Money, Marketing & Management
  • The Right Start – Using a Business Plan
  • Cash Flow Made Easy

After taking these classes, people with start-up businesses are eligible for free one-on-one consulting. See www.ncksbdc.com.

Financial Assistance
The Clyde Loan Guarantee Fund can back low-interest loans of up to $15,000 for investments in new or expanding businesses in the Clyde area.

Other Loans:
  • Network Kansas will consider a match to a loan from the Clyde Loan Guarantee Fund
  • The North Central Kansas Regional Planning Commission in Beloit has a Revolving Loan Fund for businesses that create employment.
  • Four Rivers Development in Beloit provides loan packaging services.
  • The Kansas Department of Commerce has some specific rural development loans available, especially in specialty agriculture and agri-tourism.
  • USDA Rural Development makes loans to businesses for energy efficiency and renewable energy.

The Cloud County Neighborhood Revitalization Plan offers property tax rebates to persons creating a $30,000 increase in the appraised value of their property.  Apply at the County Clerk’s office before construction begins.

An array of state programs support manufacturing investments that create at least two new jobs.
Subsidies for Mentoring:
Clyde-area business people who are adopting new skills and business practices, such as setting up a computerized bookkeeping system, developing a web page, installing an inventory system, etc., can receive one free hour with an approved mentor or consultant and four additional hours at half-price.
